We spent the winter in Austin, Texas.
Letitia, on the other hand, spent her winter in a covered slip at Aqua
Yacht Harbor at the top of the Tenn-Tom.
After a new bottom job and a spiff-and-polish she was as ready as we
were to hit the water.
We left Aqua May 4 and headed up the Tennessee toward Knoxville.
The Tennessee is as pretty a body of water as we have seen on our trip.
In places it reminds me of the Hudson and up-state New York.
There are bluffs and mountains and wooded hills and... We liked
it
.
Chattanooga is not to be missed!!
We liked it so much we stayed 4 nights. The city has done a great job
of developing it's waterfront around the Aquariums and Museum District.
Not to mention a AAA baseball team with the stadium two (long) blocks
from the water.
A couple or more days on the water found us going through the Ft. Loudoun
Lock and Dam. We stopped at Ft. Loudoun Marina just above the dam.
After hearing reports from other cruisers and a visit up to Knoxville by
car, we decided this was as far as Letitia needed to go. We liked
to the stop and the $25/day was welcome as well.
This looks like a good spot to leave Letitia while we ferry our car up to Michigan where we will also search for a heated indoor storage site for this coming winter. We have decided that a jump on next season will be worth the delay in getting back into the water next spring. We'll brave the Memorial Day weekend traffic and make the long drive.
After getting back we will head back down the river.
I'll fill you in later.
Till Then!!
