Adventures (and Misadventures) of Elliott and Mary

Issue 32 - Summer 2008:  The Rideau Canal

I have to say, we didn't get here this year. At least we didn't get up the Rideau Canal. We did spend a little time in Kingston, ON (the bottom cornor of the box) and went down the St. Lawerence to Clayton, NY (just at the lower left cornor of the white label).

The trip to Clayton included checking in with US Customs and Border Patrol at Cape Vincent where we shared  the St. Lawerence with a couple of small waterspouts, an introductory tour of the Thousand Islands area, an antique raceing motorboat regatta, and a visit with my daughter and grandchildren.

Attached are some pictures.

At the end of our stay we headed across Lake Ontario to Oswego to the start of the New York Canal system - the topic of the next issue.

We will return to the Rideau Canal next year. We enjoyed the slower pace of the canals and the gorgeous Canadian summer to pass it up.
